By doing a bit of looking around it seems the best place to start is the fan resistor, but as I've found with this car there is not a lot of info about it online. It's been cut and synchronized to the BSI(car starts with it), but remote functions don't work. Battery is new. To be sure, switch the vents to the footwell only, with full heat and on the 3 fan speed setting. Then check if you are getting anything from the top or face vents. I found this out, as the screen was getting too hot in the -8°C conditions causing the salt and screen wash etc to dry in the centre of the screen ( the screen was warm and hot air My blowers would only work if I wiggled the keys in the ignition, so I set about replacing the wires on the back of the ignition barrell for £20, and it worked.
